Born in rural Northwest Indiana, Lori Aylesworth has been actively interested in nature and art since early childhood. She attended Indiana University as a Fine Arts major and has continuously been studying and refining her artwork. She has made her home in Leavenworth, WA, in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, since the early 1980's.
After years of exploring oil and acrylic painting, Lori discovered watercolor and was captivated by all of the possibilities offered by this medium. Recently, she has been working with pastels and has turned over yet another stone in her use of different mediums, finding pastels to offer an immediate application and brilliance of color.. As she states, the possibilities are endless! However, Lori still paints in a variety of mediums , from watercolor or pastel to acrylics, oil, or mixed media, depending on what she feels will best achieve what she is trying to convey.
Lori has studied with several well established artists, including Robert and Sharon Long, Terry Isaac, Jack Hines, Robert Bateman, Sheila Rieman, and David Barker. And as she often says, she has learned mostly by trial and error and by just not being afraid to try new things. Drawing and painting are her passion, and she hopes that her love of art will come through in her work. She is a charter member of the Artist's Guild of Leavenworth and has painted many commissioned works. Lori travels from May through October to many various art shows in and around the Pacific Northwest, including Village Art in the Park in leavenworth, WA, and her works can currently be seen in Pasek Cellars Tasting Room and "Inside and Out" in downtown Leavenworth, WA.
